Arkansas Retirement Lifestyles

The official state flag of Arkansas was chosen in a design contest in 1913; the winner was Miss Willie Kavanaugh Hocker of Wabbaseka. The flag's design was finalized in 1926.
The diamond shapes in the center represent the diamond gemstone, because Arkansas is the only state in the USA where diamonds have been found. Since Arkansas was the twenty-fifth state to join the Union, there are 25 white stars around the diamond. The three blue stars in the lower part of the center represent Spain, France and the United States, the countries that have ruled Arkansas. The blue star in the upper center represents the Confederacy, of which Arkansas was a member.
Arkansas Retirement - Fayetteville
When I first started researching the best places to retire for Rocking Chair Wisdom, Fayetteville, Arkansas didn't even register on my radar. But when USA News added them to their list of promising retirement locations, I decided to go ahead and investigate Arkansas retirement options.
Fayetteville is warm during the summer when temperatures tend to be in the 70's and very cold during the winter when temperatures tend to be in the 30's. While the annual average rainfall is 46 inches, it is fairly evenly disributed throughout the year.
With a population in excess of 66,000 and growing, one of the most prominent features of this city is the University of Arkansas. For retirees sseking a smaller town environment while still having access to higher education, Fayetteville should be on your short list of best places to retire. The expanding university also makes room for seniors with free tuition for classes.
Please read this excerpt from the Fayetteville, Arkansas Chamber of Commerce web site: "Fayetteville offers many different possibilites for residents and visitors. The University of Arkansas brings excitement and opportunities for sports fans and students. One-of-a-kind shopping, exciting nightlife, live local music and fine arts are also available for everyone to enjoy. In addition to the exciting events in the city, Fayetteville's location in the beautiful Ozark Mountains, plus the lakes, rivers, hiking and biking trails are a wonderful scenic adventure for people who enjoy the outdoors."
After reviewing what Fayetteville has to offer, Rocking Chair Wisdom has found this little section of Arkansas retirment to be worthy of further consideration.
